Location

One of the longest-standing hotels in Downtown L.A., Hotel Figueroa recently completed a stunning restoration by award-winning design agency Studio Collective. Hotel Figueroa's fierce spirit is now matched with modern touches, all while respecting the property's original footprint and Spanish Colonial design.

The hotel boasts 268 rooms and suites, five F&B outlets and a landscaped courtyard featuring its iconic coffin-shaped pool. Hotel Figueroa's vibrant arts program includes rotating art exhibits showcasing the works of L.A.'s most compelling female artists - an homage to its founding in 1926 as the largest project to have been financed, owned and operated by women.

Overview

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for administering and managing housekeeping functions in the housekeeping office and serving as housekeeping receptionist.

Responsibilities

Assistant Housekeeping Managermust at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to guests and associates.
Prepares daily room attendant assignments according to established productivity.
Contacts associates regarding schedule changes due to business needs in accordance with established guidelines.
Prepare daily task assignments for all housekeeping staff, and follow-up on completion.
Review and prep VIP checklist and VIP rooms.
Manage and assign deep clean projects. Prepare and update log of all projects.
Ensure that all special requests are completed.
Answers telephone, and all other communication technologies, including two-way radio monitoring and acting on each request as appropriate and dispatching appropriate personnel.
Must maintain constant communication with other departments.
Monitor room status, out-of-order, out-of-service, discrepant, show rooms and VIP rooms
Maintain "Lost and Found" procedures and policies according to standards.
Monitors and acts on guest traces as needed including ordering, logging, tracking and returning rental equipment.
Monitors and maintains orderliness of laundry/dry cleaning pick-up and delivery.
Records housekeeping attendance daily.
Issues keys and maintains key control system as applicable.
Completes maintenance requests daily for all maintenance issues reported. Log and track completion.
Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Attend all required department trainings and meetings.
Perform any other duties required by hotel.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Two or three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
College course work in related field helpful.
Must have the ability to report to work on time and when scheduled.
Must have the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
Must meet standards of appearance and maintain a high level of personal hygiene at all time.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management, and co-workers.
Computer literacy to include: Property Management Systems; Microsoft Office; Payroll systems
Physical requirements: Flexible and long hours sometimes maybe required.

Must be proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing.

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.

Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.

Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.

Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.

Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.

Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
