The Vice President, Retirement Services Sales & Strategy will join AssetMark Wealth Solutions, the product, strategy and investment arm of AssetMark, to lead our retirement sales and strategy organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Cash, Lending & Retirement Solutions, you will play a key role guiding the evolution, growth, and management of our 3(38) investment fiduciary offering that manages more than $2B in assets in workplace retirement business programs and provides independent financial advisors a flexible program that helps them win in the small- to mid-size workplace retirement business space.

As VP, Retirement Services Sales & Strategy you will be responsible for program growth and will rely on your retirement plan expertise to lead a team to unparalleled success. You will lead a dedicated sales team and will be responsible for setting strategy, driving new advisor acquisition, and growing share of wallet on existing advisors. You will be a credible and experienced leader with the presence to motivate, develop and lead a tenured group of sales reps. In addition, your ability to have strategic engagements with the Home Office providing a "voice of the field" on key market trends and emerging issues will be critical to your success.

You will also act as a key subject matter expert to guide the development of our product offer and client service model, partnering with all retirement related functional teams including investments, product, operations, service, sales, technology, risk, legal and compliance to ensure we're delivering a top flight client experience.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Encino, CA office.

Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement an actionable go-to-market strategy that consistently meets sales, client retention and revenue goals
  • Develop and lead a sales team charged with driving new advisor adoption and increasing existing advisor share of wallet through proactive outreach and consultative selling to meet or exceed annual production goals
  • Develop a strong partnership with our broader sales organization and our operations & service organizations to identify prospects, close, and service new business
  • Act as SME and partner with AWS leadership to translate our strategy into an actionable roadmap that guides the evolution of our offer, sales/service model, and integration with the broader AssetMark platform
  • Oversee and manage key 3rd party partners such as record keepers, TPAs and custodians
  • Be a leading voice for AssetMark's workplace retirement business in the market - including conferences, media, sales meetings, and senior client engagement
  • Effectively manage annual budget, including capitalized budget for special projects
  • Chair and oversee AMRS governance, product and sales committees

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of workplace retirement business programs such as 401(k) Defined Contribution, 403(b) for public schools and certain 501(c) organizations, and other retirement plan types that help small businesses efficiently provide cost effective retirement plans (such as Solo 401k and PEPs)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with both external and internal partners
  • Ability to influence leaders with credible, independent, and objective points of view

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of Financial Services experience with a focus in
  • 10+ years of leadership in Retirement with 5+ years in a Sales leadership position with a demonstrated track record of managing and developing teams and meeting/exceeding sales goals

Additional Requirements

  • Travel up to 50%, depending on business needs, with or without reasonable accommodation

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $150,000-$200,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
