Pay Range Information
Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary
Incumbent will provide support to the Principal Investigator and will be responsible for supporting our laboratory staff with the primary goal of optimizing experiments and succeeding in producing reliable studies. Work alongside the PI to determine research methods and conduct laboratory experiments to express and purify membrane proteins in mammalian cells. The candidate will need to be methodical when carrying out duties and generate reports to submit to the relevant laboratory managers.
Responsibilities
Under PI (Principal Investigator)'s supervision:
  • Express and purify membrane proteins in mammalian cells. * Assist biological and pharmaceutical scientists in the laboratories.
  • Be able to work individually and with a scientific team.
  • Able to perform laboratory experiments in line with standard testing procedures.
  • Record all experimental observations, collect data, and test results accurately and in a specified format.
  • Set up and perform experiments, make experimental observations, and discuss and interpret findings results verbally and in writing.
  • Conduct mammalian cell culture and other experiments as required.
  • Clean, sterilize, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain daily logs and equipment record books.
  • Ensure that safety guidelines are adhered to at all times in the laboratory.
  • Organize and store all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
  • Order, maintain, and organize laboratory supplies.
  • Procure, receive, label, and/or maintain chemicals or laboratory supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience working in a laboratory
  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field
  • Working experience with mammalian cell culture Comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards, etc.)
  • Ability to work autonomously and on time to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
