The Role
We are looking for a talented Communications Director - Human Resources to join our team. This person will play a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic communications initiatives to engage, inform and align employees with our organization's HR policies, programs and initiatives.

The successful candidate should have a track record of serving as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders and various stakeholders. This individual also must have a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across the company and work collaboratively with people at all levels.

This role reports to the Vice President, Executive Communications, who is part of McKesson's Brand, Marketing and Communications leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with Human Resources' goals and objectives. Work closely with HR clients to build clear communication channels, identify communication priorities and establish strong messaging frameworks. Designated areas of support include Talent Management & Development, Total Rewards (Benefits & Compensation), HR Shared Services and other HR teams.

  • Leadership Communications and Counsel: Provide strategic counsel to HR leadership on effective communication strategies to foster trust among employees, strengthen McKesson's culture and advance our enterprise priorities.

  • Content Development: Oversee the creation of engaging written, visual and multimedia content for HR communications, including newsletters, presentations, videos, digital signage and more.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other communications leaders and colleagues to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging and the proper integration of HR communications with broader organizational communications strategies. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and the ability to embrace the latest technologies and best practices to amplify our team's efforts.

  • Measurement and Analysis: Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of HR communication initiatives. Conduct regular assessments and analyze feedback to continuously improve communications strategies.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.

  • 9+ years professional experience in communications, public relations or related fields.

  • 2+ years of managerial experience (direct or virtual teams).

Critical Skills

  • Executive presence and the ability to inspire confidence among leaders and stakeholders.

  • Strong communications background with experience supporting C-suite leaders.

  • Experienced working with a larger organization in a matrixed environment.

  • Working knowledge of the healthcare industry and experience supporting HR Communications is preferred.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Organized, confident, professional, focused and not easily distracted or rattled. Strong emotional intelligence is imperative.

  • Outstanding judgment, intuition, self-starter/strong initiative and quick learner.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to anticipate company and team needs.

  • Excellent organization and project management skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects to budget and schedule.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong partnerships with all facets of the organization to develop and execute plans, leveraging various teams across the organization.

Education

Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, mass media, information technology and/or communications is ideal; graduate degree preferred.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$125,300 - $208,800
