Overview

Job Purpose

The Lead Business Analyst for Product Development is accountable for assessing users' business requirements, innovating solutions, and formulating detailed business requirements and functional specifications. Demonstrating autonomy throughout the project life-cycle, this role actively contributes to technical specifications, spearheads requirement development, system design, test planning, and the production release process. Additionally, this position focuses on designing and managing reference data solutions for financial derivatives, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data distribution across various domains and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a proactive liaison between business, operations, and technology teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process
  • Independently identify business needs and develop comprehensive requirements and resource materials for our reference data systems, accommodating a wide range of product designs and downstream systems
  • Gather product requirements input from various stakeholders, including front-end users and API consumers
  • Prepare detailed documentation for data analysis and procedural processes
  • Conduct thorough reviews of data processes, construct functional prototypes, and execute rigorous test plans
  • Adhere to company software development processes and standards
  • Collaborate with project management to prioritize and monitor the implementation of system requirements
  • Provide support to operations for incident resolution as needed
  • Stay abreast of developments in derivatives markets, maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and best practices
  • Continuously study emerging technologies to remain technically proficient and enhance skill set

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in software product development, business analysis, or related fields, focusing on Energy, Commodity, or Financial futures and options markets
  • Detail-oriented with a proven ability to articulate unambiguous requirements and self-driven mindset; strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated expertise in maintaining data and defining operational processes
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including technical and functional business writing proficiency; ability to collaborate broadly across departments
  • Proficiency in facilitating requirements gathering sessions, reviews, and issue resolutions involving multiple stakeholders
  • Strong SQL skills for database query execution and refinement; thorough understanding of relational databases and data modeling principles;
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and meet tight deadlines
  • Good working knowledge of software testing practices for contributing to high-quality software development

Preferred

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Visio, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • A general technical background encompassing application programming, database, and system design principles
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C++, R, Python, Visual Basic, PL/SQL

Schedule:

This role offers work from home flexibility of one day per week.
