Intern - RotatingGlendaleWisconsinVeterinarian - Intern**Opening Statement**BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in Glendale, WI is offering the unique opportunity of a 12.5-month small animal rotating internship scheduled to start July 1, 2021; the first 2 weeks are orientation with didactic training. The goal is to provide new veterinary graduates or veterinarians wishing to advance their skills exposure to specialist management of routine and complex cases. The program will provide mentored and experiential clinical training for veterinarians seeking to advance their clinical competency in Entrustable Professional Activities. Interns will also participate in teaching visiting students and nurses-in-training, prepare a presentation, and participate in a research project. To maximize the learning experience, the intern may be scheduled at any of our three locations which are 25 miles from the Glendale location. This program has an academia feel in a private practice setting.**Description**At the completion of the internship, the graduate will be skilled in performing a comprehensive and perfunctory examination and in taking a thorough and succinct history. They will be comfortable assessing patients with a variety of chronic and/or critical conditions and initiating appropriate therapeutic and diagnostic interventions in a timely manner. They will be capable of performing procedures to the degree that they are motivated to participate. They will be able to communicate effectively with clients facing difficult decisions. Graduates will be well prepared to transition into a residency or graduate program or continue in general practice with additional skills that increase client base and productivity.Supervising faculty provide over 58 years of combined experience in the specialty of emergency and critical care medicine. Our faculty members enjoy teaching and will devote considerable time to the house staff seminar series on topics including cardiac, pulmonary, neurologic, endocrine, gastrointestinal, oncologic, internal medicine, exotic and avian medicine, and surgical emergencies. Daily clinical rounds, faculty presentations, house staff presentations, journal club discussions, resident projects, and discussions pertaining to client relations and business practice management and are integral parts of this learning experience. The Veterinary Social Work Program provides direct services and supportive counseling to clients of the hospital as well as consultation and psychoeducation for our employees.As a VECCS-Certified Level-1 Emergency and Critical Care Facility, the hospital has additional equipment including therapeutic and anesthetic ventilators, endoscopy (flexible and rigid), fluoroscopy, telemetry, stereotactic radiosurgery, tracheal stenting, GE logiq S7 & GE Vivid IQ (Cardio) ultrasounds, LigaSure vessel sealing system, integrated PACS system, hydrotherapy, shockwave and laser therapy, complete in-house integrated laboratory including standard coagulation (PT, PTT) thromboelastography instruments and SNAP tests as well as comprehensive patient monitoring systems. We are also an accredited ACVECC-provisional Veterinary Trauma Center. Additionally, all three of our DACVECCs are certified RECOVER instructors and many of our staff are certified RECOVER Rescuers.
